Today's
nail of the day is Aloha Heat from Island Girl Cosmetics.
4 Coats, Natural Light |
It is a
light neon green with very small silver shimmer. The shimmer just
comes across as a sheen in most lighting, but is slightly more noticeable in
the sun. It is definitely more prominent in the bottle than on the
nails. This is a really unique color because most neon greens are
much darker, and tend to look border-line Halloween costume-y to me.
4 Coats, Direct Sunlight |
The
formula of this polish was not the best. It requires 4 coats to reach
full opacity and eliminate the streaks. Being both a light green and
a neon, I pretty much expected that this would be the case. In the
future I think I will try putting a coat or 2 over white polish and
hopefully that will save some time. On a more positive note, it dries
incredibly fast, even without a quick drying top coat.
Aloha
Heat is such a fun and bright color for summer. Island Girl nail
polishes are also very affordable. At 0.65 ounces they are bigger
than most polishes (0.5 ounces is the typical size), and retail for
only $3.99. I was able to get mine on sale for $2.99. Unfortunately,
Island Girl Cosmetics are only sold at ABC stores in Hawaii and Las
Vegas. However, they do have a limited selection at abcstores.com. As
of right now, they do not have individual polishes on the site, but
Aloha Heat is available as part of the Aloha Colors 5 Pack.
Have you tried any
Island Girl nail polishes?
