Nail of the Day: Essie Fiji

Today's nail of the day is Essie's Fiji.

3-4 Coats, Natural Light

This is a popular color from Essie, which is a brand well known for their huge range of nude and light pink polishes. Fiji is a white-based light pink with a creme finish. Cameras tend to pick up the white in this polish better than the pink, so it is a touch more pink in person. I think it would complement all skin tones, but looks especially great and really stands out next to a tan. This is the same effect that a white polish would have, but the touch of pink makes it less harsh and more feminine in my opinion.

3-4 Coats, Direct Sunlight

Since Fiji is so light, the formula is not the best. It is a little bit thin and streaky. I used 3 coats on all of my nails, and added a 4th to some that still had streaks or sheer spots peeking through. It is not actually a difficult formula to work with; it just needs a couple of extra coats for complete opacity.

In my opinion, this is a must-have polish, especially for summer. It is so simple and will go with any outfit, but looks absolutely stunning on the nails. It is part of Essie's permanent collection. Essie polishes retail for $8 and can be found at Ulta and some other beauty supply stores. Within the last year, I have also seen Essie displays popping up in various Target, CVS, and Rite Aid locations. This is quite exciting, since most “high end” nail polish brands aren't readily available at the drugstore. And here is a quick tip: if you sign up to receive Rite Aid emails, they frequently send out Essie coupons. Within the last few months, I have gotten a coupon for a FREE Essie polish (with no minimum purchase), and 2 other $2 off coupons for Essie as well. I know signing up for email lists can be a pain, but the annoying messages are well worth it if they are also sending out such great coupons!

Would you rather wear a plain white polish, or a white-based pastel like Fiji?
